Bulgaria has over 30,000 historical monuments from different historical ages, 36 culture reserves, 330 museums and galleries. The Bulgarian lands are ancient crossroads. They were populated in antiquity and keep the record of many ancient civilizations.

The state of Bulgaria has a 1,300-year-old history and according to statistics, it is ranked third (after Greece and Italy ) for its number of archaeological monuments. The earliest inhabitants of the present Bulgarian lands were the Thracians. The ancient Greek historian Herodotus describes the Thracians as the second biggest tribe in the ancient world, after the Indians. The most famous Thracians were Spartacus and Orpheus.

On the fabulous beaches along the sea coast and at the foot of the moutains there are many resorts of high world class, which attract many tourists every year. Bulgaria is located in South Eastern Europe and borders the Black Sea between Romania and Turkey on 111 000 sq km territory. The accession of Bulgaria to the European Union in 2007 will further enhance the interest to and the reliability of the country.

According to the data from the International Real Estate Federation the prices of housing have reached an average rate of 31% growth for the last 12 months (from the last quarter of 2003 to the last quarter of 2004). For example, the number of British tourists visited Bulgaria for 2004 was 259,092 and has risen 62.6% compared to the previous year. The number of Irish tourists for the same period was 11,460 people and registered an increase of 83.4%. |
